What You Need for Keyword Research Training
Our keyword research courses require specific tools and baseline knowledge. This page lists exactly what you need before you start.
Some items are mandatory for following along with practicals. Others are strongly recommended but you can work around them.
Core Technical Requirements
These are the minimum technical specifications needed to participate effectively in our keyword research courses.
Computer Access
Any desktop or laptop running Windows 10+, macOS 10.14+, or recent Linux. Chromebooks work for most content but may struggle with certain analysis tools.
Internet Connection
Stable broadband with at least 5 Mbps download speed. Most research tools are web-based and need consistent connectivity to function properly.
Browser Requirements
Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari with current version. Some keyword tools only work in Chrome due to extension dependencies.
Spreadsheet Software
Google Sheets (free) or Excel for data analysis. Most keyword datasets contain thousands of rows that need sorting and filtering.
Google Account
Required for accessing Google Keyword Planner and Search Console data. Free Gmail account works fine for course purposes.
Text Editor
Any basic text editor for organizing keyword lists and notes. Notepad, TextEdit, or code editors like VS Code all work.
Software and Tool Access
Google Keyword Planner
Free tool accessible through Google Ads account. No payment method required but you need to complete account setup.
Ubersuggest Free Tier
Basic keyword suggestions available without subscription. Useful for exploring related terms and question-based queries.
AnswerThePublic
Visualization tool for question keywords. Free tier provides two searches daily which is enough for course exercises.
Google Trends
Completely free tool for analyzing search term popularity over time and across regions. Critical for seasonal keyword research.
Search Console Access
If you own a website, connecting Search Console provides actual performance data. Not required but highly valuable for applied learning.
Browser Extensions
Keywords Everywhere or similar SERP analysis extensions. Free versions have limitations but work for learning fundamentals.
Knowledge Prerequisites
You need basic familiarity with search engines and how people use them. Understanding terms like search volume, competition, and ranking helps but we explain these concepts early in the course.
No coding experience required. Most tools use visual interfaces. If you can use spreadsheets and browse websites comfortably, you have sufficient technical literacy.
Some grasp of your target industry or niche accelerates learning. The course covers general methodology but works best when you apply concepts to a real project or business Lorevantisqo.
Ask About PrerequisitesOptional But Helpful
Paid keyword tools like Ahrefs or SEMrush provide richer data but they cost between $99-$199 monthly. Course content works fine with free tools. Premium access becomes relevant only when handling larger client projects.
Analytics background helps interpret data patterns faster but most participants pick this up during practical exercises. The course includes dedicated segments on reading keyword metrics correctly.
WordPress or basic website editing knowledge lets you test keywords in real content immediately. Not essential for learning research methodology but useful for seeing results firsthand.
